Netiquette Netiquette is another term for Email etiquette. With the rise in the popularity of email it is important that we use common courtesy when sending email. We publish our email addresses online to make ourselves more accessible and enhance our ministry. Yet past experience has demonstrated that this can be abused. So we suggest the following guidelines when using email. 1. Our email address is not posted for solicitation purposes. Do not email advertisements of your services to us. 2. Forward emails sparingly. We do not have time to read every cute or inspiring story that is circulated on the internet. The majority of forwarded emails do not get read. We are happy to hear from you personally. However, impersonal, forwarded emails only tend to clutter our in box. Also keep in mind that there are many email hoaxes. Remember, just because it is in writing doesn't make it so. Verify the source and the accuracy. There are several places on the internet where you can check out the latest rumor for accuracy. www.truthorficiton.com is one resource. 3. Help eliminate SPAM. Whenever you send out a bulk email, use the Blind Courtesy Copy (BCC) option. This hides the multiple email addresses from other recipients. Spammers look for those types of emails and harvest the addresses to send unsolicited and indecent material. Once you send out an email with all of those addresses, you have no control over where it goes. BCC helps protect everyone. 4. DON'T SHOUT! USING ALL CAPS IS CONSIDERED SHOUTING WHEN USING EMAIL. IT IS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT FOR THE RECIPIENT TO READ AND MAKES YOUR MESSAGE LESS EFFECTIVE. ONLY USE ALL CAPS WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A SPECIFIC POINT! MOST PEOPLE DO NOT ENJOY BEING SHOUTED AT. thank you. We welcome your personal emails and look forward to hearing from you. God bless. | ||||||||||||
