Pastor Gary Click & Family Nearly every church preaches against having cliques in the church. Trust me, we have heard often! However, we are glad that FBT chose to welcome the Click family into their church family when they voted to call me as their new pastor on October 8, 2006! I’ll never forget the night the church voted. I had preached all day and just completed a question and answer session. I and my family were asked to wait in the hallway as the church voted. I thought to myself, this will be extremely awkward if the vote does not go well. After a few minutes we heard a robust applause come from the auditorium. I said to my family, "Either that is a ‘yes’ or I’m so bad that they are thrilled that I’m not coming permanently." After being ushered back into the auditorium, I was advised that the church had voted 100% to call me as their pastor. My first Sunday was November 19th and we moved in over the Thanksgiving holiday. As you can imagine, we had been praying seriously about this move prior to candidating. Pastor MARTIN HOLMAN had approached me and asked me to pray about the possibility. He briefly shared the history of the church with me and told me that he felt that we would be a good fit. Shortly thereafter I was contacted by the pulpit committee and scheduled to preach in August. After this meeting the Lord began to work in my heart. I had pastored Calvary Baptist Church (www.calvaryconnection.org) of Clinton, Indiana for several years. We loved the people and God had blessed our ministry there. Our boys were in a a good Christian School. We didn’t want to leave such a good situation unless we were certain that God was in it. I began fasting and praying for God’s leadership. As I had my devotions in Exodus the Scriptures seemed to jump off the page when I read Exodus 33:13-15 "13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. 14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. 15 And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence." I knew that God was using these verses to tell me that I was to go to Fremont and that He would bless this ministry. On a Friday evening, after fasting for several days, the Lord told me to quit fasting because He had given me direction. The next day, Ron Ollom called and said, "We believe that you are the man God wants to be our pastor." We are thrilled now to be a part of FBT and we are certain that God has great plans for this ministry. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.
